Our new Organic Egg products will be featured under the name "Eben-Haezer's Happy Hens".  Our Organic Pasture Raised Eggs will be set to hit the stores in April 2012.  Currently we are selling Happy Hens Veggie Fed Eggs at our farmers markets and at a few stores listed on our vendors page.

All the pictures seen on this page are of our current pasture raised Hens.

Why Choose Organic Eggs?

Why Choose Organic Eggs?

Organic eggs are made according to certain production standards. Studies have shown organic fruits and vegetables may contain up to 40 percent more antioxidants than conventional equivalents which is great for the chicken and your egg because the chickens are fed 100% organic feed. Additionally, organic farming is less damaging to the environment.

At Eben-Haezer Poultry Ranch we are changing to provide a better place for the commercial poultry operation.  We are moving one step at a time to provide a better life for our birds and we feel strongly that this is the direction we should be headed.

Pasture Raised Organic Hens

What are Pastured Chickens?

Pastured chickens are raised in small numbers out in fields or pasture.  They are allowed to roam freely and are required to have vegetation in their pasture at all times.

This allows the birds to roam freely and provides them with a stress free enviroment.

We have recently started Pasture Raised Hens.  To date we are in the process of getting organic certified.   We have a small number of chickens that are out in our fields.  These chickens are able to run around in the sun filled fields and eat what ever it is they want.  They always have grass and are fed a vegetarian feed.  Our new organic flock will be coming in December.  This new flock will be producing organic eggs by April.

We will provide updates and new pictures for those of you who are interested.

Are Pasture Eggs Healthier?

Tests have shown that Free Range Eggs contain about half the cholesterol, up to twice as much vitamin E, two to six times more beta carotene and four times more omega-3 fatty acids than the supermarket eggs.

The benefit to eating pasture raised eggs is that the chickens always have natural vegetation to eat aside from their organic feed. Pasture Raised Hens produce even better and healthier eggs than the free range chickens.  You ask Why??   In 2003, Penn State researchers reported that birds kept on pasture, produce three times more omega-3s in their eggs, twice as much vitamin E and 40% more vitamin A.
